Our Story
‘Mother.Sister.Friend.’ began 10 years ago as a passion project to care for young mothers in my community. It was a way to honor the impact these beautiful energies had on my growth and healing, but also served as a personal reminder to always be my authentic self. Throughout our many iterations, we continue to prioritize leaving people in a better place than where they started, conjuring hope and a sense of belonging. A sort of familiarity that reminds them of family (without the dysfunction). We’re proud of the work we’ve done over the years and even more excited for what’s ahead.
Brittany Martin is a mom of two, an animal lover, and the owner of Mother.Sister.Friend. For the past ten years, she has supported families throughout Baltimore and the DMV area as a Full-Spectrum Doula, Placenta Encapsulation Specialist, Evidence Based Birth® Childbirth Educator, and Lactation Counselor. She recently made the difficult decision to step away from bedside care, but don’t worry, she’s not completely leaving the birthing community. Sometimes it’s necessary to pivot.
In her work as a doula, she’d often volunteer to help families with tedious tasks that most people dread, such as;
Folding laundry
Arranging and assembling baby shower gifts
Washing bottles and pump parts.
Noticing the weight it lifted from overwhelmed and exhausted parents, she decided to lean in and offer these services exclusively to expectant and newly postpartum parents. Additionally, Brittany continues to teach childbirth education courses to help parents equip themselves with the knowledge to make informed choices. She is thrilled to be back and even more thrilled to welcome you all along this next chapter.
Nesting & Reorganization
Both pregnancy and postpartum can be hard- the hormones, fatigue, caring for ourselves and families, and for some, having to lay angel babies to rest. It’s easy to get overwhelmed, and before we know it, our homes are in disarray.

EBB CHILDBIRTH EDUCATION SERIES

Offered in accelerated and semi-accelerated formats, ranging from 2 to 5 weeks.
This course includes everything from the SAVVY BIRTH 101 workshop, plus:
Pre-recorded online content so you can learn at your own pace. (Organized by topic and week to keep you on track!) Learn about the evidence behind:
Various medical induction methods and alternatives, pain medications, comfort measures, 39-week inductions, Group B Strep, inducing for suspected big babies, routine infant circumcision, and more!
Plus- learn advocacy skills, practice meditations, and receive tips for supportive partners (for birth and postpartum), soothing fussy babies, breastfeeding, and postpartum warning signs.
6-month access to online videos so you can review and revisit content even after the series concludes!
A Spiral-bound companion workbook that many parents bring along to prenatal appointments and even their births!
Weekly virtual meetings with your EBB instructor (me!) and a small group of other expectant parents to discuss online content. (Classes are no larger than six pairs)

Q: WHEN SHOULD I SIGN UP?
A: Ideally, around 27 weeks, so there is time to complete the course and digest the information. However, attending sooner or even before pregnancy is great, too! For those a little late to the party (32 weeks+), no worries! An accelerated, private class can be accommodated.
